21/09/2012

On Wednesday we held our themed dinner. The night was successful and our theme worked well. We will post a photo below.
Today we met to complete the final parts of the assessment, however one member of the group had to go to the hospital so we were left with just 3 members of the group so we were not able to complete as much as we would of liked. Hopefully she will be well for Monday where we plan to complete all parts of the assessment and start putting it together.
We have been allowed to change the day of our presentation until Thursday instead of Tuesday so we will have a bit more time to complete the presentation.

13th September 2012

Today we went into town to get our decorations and order flowers and balloons. We were able to get everything for well under budget so we have a little bit more money to work with because we may need to order more flowers if we have more guests. We have a pretty solid idea on how we want to decorate and theme the venue.
We are meeting again on Tuesday to go over final plans and visit the venue.

11th September 2012

Yesterday we met and made a draft of our conference program and went through the work we have already completed to ensure the work we have already done was properly completed. Andrea is currently working on the drinks menu and the final copy of the menu has been completed. We are next meeting between our classes on Thursday.

6th September 2012

Today we met after our first class and went into town to investigate our options for decorations. We found everything that we would need and we think we are able to budget in everything.
There has been a few changes to the menu and the pricing and we will upload a picture of the menu when we have completed the final copy.
We have also decided on a drink special and we will also upload a picture of this.

4th September 2012

Today we met before our class started and designed the menu for our dinner and discussed decorations. Everyone attended the meeting and finally all our designated work has completed. We are planning on meeting on Thursday.

Monday 3rd September

Today we had a meeting planned at 11am meeting in the student hub in D block. Kate wasn't able to make it due to phsyio. Shakira was unsure where we were meeting as she was absent on Friday so went to the library, where Chavaughn who forgot where we were meeting went as well. Andrea managed to get in touch with them around 11.30 so we had a delayed start. We will need to look at better ways of communicating as a group.

All parts were meant to be completed by today. So far the completed parts are:
- Shakira has completed the venue inspection form and the outline of the themed dinner.
- Kate has done the travel and accommodation checklist and written the letter of confirmation to the accommodation provider which we have decided is the Scenic Dunedin City.
- Chavaughan has completed catering supplies
- Andrea has done the conference registration form, poster for the dinner and the guided day tour.

Chavaughan is still working on sponsership.
We have made sure all parts will be completed by tomorrow.

We are having another meeting tomorrow (Tuesday 4th September) before class at 12.30pm. We will look at all the completed parts and start talking more about our Godfather dinner.

31/08/2012

Kirsty has now left us, leaving just 4 of us to complete this assignment. Today we met to discuss venue/catering options. We were not able to complete as much as we would of liked as Shakira was not able to make it. We were hoping to have our assigned jobs completed today but it wasn't quite all completed. Here is a list of what we have and haven't completed.
- Shakira has completed the venue inspection  form and is still working on the outline of the themed dinner.

We are meeting again on Monday before class where we will have all our parts completed and we will collaborate them and move on to the next part.

28 August

Today everyone was present. We have completed our poster and printed them out. We have started distributing the posters. Next meeting is at 1o'clock on Friday :)

August 27

Today we looked at a draft of the Poster advertising our Dinner. We also looked over the menu again. Everyone was present except for Chavaughan. We are going to meet again on Tuesday between classes. We are going to try have the poster finished by the end of the week to start promoting the dinner.

Today in class group members worked on assigned tasks. We are looking into Conference Venues, preferably one which has attached accommodation. We plan on meeting again between classes on Tuesday

21st August Meeting

Today we met after class. We allocated tasks for each member of the group to do. We have prepared a Conference Enquiry Form and sent an email to the client accepting the position. Each member is going to have one of their tasks done by class on Tuesday and we will then reassess which tasks need to be done.

20th August Meeting

Today we met up to discuss dinner details such as the theme which as a group we have decided on. We also created our letterhead which we are going to use for our enquiry form. Tomorrow we are going to have a meeting between classes to assign tasks. All members of the group were present. We have also found out that one of our members will be leaving the country next Friday for 6 weeks so she will not be present for the dinner or presentation but will still be involved until she leaves.

First Meeting

Today we held our first meeting in class. All members were present and we got to know our dinner venue and discussed theme ideas which we will come to a final decision on Monday when we meet. We also saw the first copy of the menu and wine list which we will try to accommodate the theme around.

Welcome!

Hey everyone!!
Welcome to Lockston Enterprises. We are made up of students currently completing a Diploma of Applied Travel and Tourism. Members of our company include Shakira Kalksma, Kirsty Sutherland, Andrea Wynn-Williams, Chavaughan Ross and Kate Medlin. For an assessment, we have been asked to create a virtual conference and events company and for this we are currently planning a three day conference in which we must include a themed dinner. For the conference, we must plan accommodation, activities, conference details and find sponsors, although we will not be holding the conference. We will however be holding the themed dinner on the 19th of September 2012. This blog will follow our planning processes and the details of our meetings.
